Ian’s rescue ride

Do you guys want some behind the scenes clips? I mean, this stuff just sits in my phone and I think, wow, I want to tell you all about so here I am 😂

Sebastian turns 17 in two weeks and since Rob was going to CA to pick up Rudy, Sebastian asked if he could do the SoCal USA BMX National race, so he and Rob are driving Rob’s Teslas to CA as a caravan and dropping off Ian on the way. Great way to celebrate a birthday, do an epic road trip any 17 year old would die for, take a dog to his new home, save another dog in the meantime and yes, Sebastian could have rode in the one car with Rob but hey, you are only 17 once so we agreed to him driving the other to CA as a caravan with Rob. Cars guys love this crap, in fact, if I had time I would jump in my Miata and follow them. Bonus, that car has free supercharging so it won’t cost me a dime. cruising down the highway, listening to in your own thoughts, silence.. no one, just you. That’s my kind of road trip. I wanted my son to experience the zen. God please keep them safe.

I hope someday that my teenager realizes the opportunities he’s getting that are not typical for kids his age. It’s a good thing he is not a typical teen teenager.


Just check out that sunset. It’s definitely one of the cool things about lake living in Oklahoma. Disclaimer, we are not lakeside but we are surrounded by the lake.


Before the boys took off I asked them to let me give Ian a hug and a treat.



But let’s throw back a minute and remember Ian’s rescue. Ian is one of my Jersey boys. I called them that because they sang all the way home. 16 hours.

I pulled him and 4 other boys out of a shelter in Newark, NJ.


Here is where the real fun began. 16 hours.. 16 whole hours.. and this is why I called them the Jersey boys.

This was May 16, 2023 around 1pm



It’s 4 PM and we are on the road now. Here is where rumble chimes in.



And the trip is just getting started. It’s 7 PM now.


It’s now 2 AM and I am tired. You can hear it in my voice. I would normally stop and sleep in the van at this point, but yeah, that wasn’t happening.


It’s 4 AM now and even Rumble is like “shut up”…



It’s now 630am and I am cooked. All I could do at this point is start singing too.. the song is so so appropriate, that it really isn’t funny anymore.


Kai is stressed out. It’s about 9:30 AM and now I am trying to bribe them to shut up with chicken nuggets. 🤣

Kai didn’t care much about the nuggets and asked that I sing with him.. here’s our duet.


But the real excitement started was when finally arrived at the rescue. At this point we have been on the road for 24 hours. It’s now about 430pm. I’m tired 😴



Now insert 2 years of halfway life.. but he made it.. finally and in a few short hours, Ian will be no longer halfway home.

Let’s come back to the present.. and get back in the Tesla.



And get this boy home.
